Natural Vitamin C Luci’s Rosehip morning ‘hot shot’

basket of Rosehips

Rosehips contain more Vitamin C than most fruit.

Find your Rosehips, they are everywhere! woodlands, scrub, hedges, railway walks.

Abundant late Autumn but you will still find them later into winter.

I cut stems of berries and sort them in the comfort of my home rather than picking each one.

You will need lots so you can have many days out foraging, so lovely in Autumn making the most of the last of the warmer sun and surrounded with the vibrant changing colours. Great for topping up Vitamin D and boosting your general well being.

When you have your bounty home, de stem, de leaf, wash em & chop em up a bit so they break down.

Put them in the largest pot you have

300g rosehips & 500g water

Bring to the boil & then simmer for 20 minutes

Pour this mixture into a colander sitting over a large bowl, lined with muslin, or fine net fabric of any sort, and allow the juice to run through.

Leave without trying to squash them through as you might get the ‘itching powder’ in your juice!

There you have it! easy peasy and FREE

I then add a pinch of Cayenne pepper, a shake of Turmeric powder, 1/2 tspn organic apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tspn raw honey

You can add whatever you like but I would avoid the WW2 sugar addition!

Put your shot glass of Rosehip juice in a cup of hot water to warm and allow the honey to melt

Best kept in the fridge & used within a couple of weeks, I bottle & freeze it in weekly portions

Cheers!
